CIRCLES Description

The CIRCLES (Clean InteRmittent Catherization LEarning Scale) is a specific learning scale used to classify the ability outcome to perform CISC.

CISC learning is classified from 5 (CISC learning easy and CISC complete) to 0 (CISC learning impossible). Under a CIRCLES score of 3, CISC becomes inadequate for the therapeutic strategy with either impossibility to empty the bladder and/or significant risk for the patient.

This classification is simplified, easy to use by care givers and completely reflects first the different grades of learning difficulties and secondly the ability to effectively practice the CISC. Thus CIRCLES is a composite test with a global approach of learning and ability of practicing CISC.
